City of Birmingham issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.
Birmingham received a $4,000 grant to help supplement our tree planting program!
This annual grant program is sponsored by DTE Energy Foundation and administered by Michigan's Department of Natural Resources and ReLeaf Michigan, a nonprofit organization.
Birmingham's urban forest, consisting of trees along street right-of-ways, public parks and golf courses, is estimated to provide more than $20 million worth of benefits to our community, and grants like this help us maintain our trees and replace the ones we've lost throughout the year.
