In southeast Oakland County, Michigan, new businesses are still planning to open, regardless of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Several new businesses in Royal Oak and Oak Park have been planning their debut, and they don't plan on letting the novel coronavirus stop them from opening.
In Royal Oak, an eco-friendly outdoor furniture manufacturer, Yardbird, plans on opening a showroom this spring, according to Detroit Free Press. Yardbird uses recycled ocean plastic to create resin wicker, which is then used, along with other materials, to manufacture furniture.
“Yardbird has collected and incorporated over 30,000 pounds of intercepted ocean plastic in its collection with 50% of every handmade resin wicker set made of this recycled material,” Yardbird spokeswoman Allison Duncan said in an email to the Detroit Free Press.
And in Oak Park, a new brewery plans to open in the summer. Dog and Pony Show Brewing will be owned by Kyle Gierada and his brothers, Aaron and Josh Gierada, who plan to partner with Ernie's Market to have deli sandwiches served at the brewery.
“Anything you do, you have to do with passion, and we will make it a success,” Kyle Gierada told the Detroit Free Press.
Other businesses set to open in the area include Gastropub Oak Park Social, Johnny Was, The Candle Spot and Clawson Paws Pet Grooming.
