Oakland Schools issued the following announcement on Jan. 14.
Register by Jan. 31; Sponsorship opportunities available
Oakland Schools and the Oakland Schools Education Foundation have developed the Game and Invention Challenge, an event designed to inspire all Oakland County students in grades 1-12 to use creativity, critical thinking and STEM skills to develop games, inventions or solutions to problems.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 7, 2020. Deadline to register is Jan. 31, 2020 and the deadline to submit all entry materials is Feb. 14, 2020. Registration is $25. The Challenge is limited to 50 individuals or teams and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students will have a chance to demonstrate their games or inventions to a team of judges. Award categories are: Most Marketable Game Concept, Most Creative Concept, Most Outstanding Presentation, Best Invention, Best Solution for a problem people experience and Tech Center Challenge Winner. Cash and prizes will be awarded.
