Waterford Township announced on Mar. 23 that new recycling bins are being delivered this week to residents who did not previously have recycling service.
The announcement comes as the township prepares to launch a new contract starting April 1, which will provide all curbside collection customers with full-service collection of trash, recycling, and yard waste at a single universal price.
Residents who are new to the recycling program are encouraged to visit the township’s website at www.waterfordmi.gov/trash for guidelines on how to properly separate materials into trash and recycling carts. The township said these resources aim to help residents adjust smoothly to the updated service.
Those who do not wish to participate in the recycling program may opt out of receiving a bin by contacting Priority Waste. However, officials noted that opting out does not reduce the overall cost of service for those customers.
The rollout is part of Waterford’s efforts to streamline waste management services across all households under one pricing structure.
