Milwaukee and Green Bay come to the Athletics Center O'rena Friday, November 4, and Saturday, November 5 at 6:00 pm and 4:00 pm, respectively, as home #HLVB play concludes for Oakland University Volleyball.
Back on October 7, Oakland upset Green Bay in Wisconsin through the entire five sets, securing one of the largest victories in NCAA Division I throughout the course of the 2022 campaign before dropping a three-set match to Milwaukee the following day.
Previously, Oakland toppled Robert Morris at home on November 1 to advance the Golden Grizzlies' conference record to 6-8 so far as the 2022 season winds down. Patti Cesarini hit a game-high 13 kills while AnnaBelle Tomei (who leads the team in assists at 443 through 90 sets) facilitated 21 assists.
Patti Cesarini has the second-highest kill efficiency of any attacker in the Horizon League with 3.70 per set with a team-high total of 363 on the year for the third-most points in the conference with an average of 4.11. Cesarini is just behind Emily Wichmann on the team in digs while the latter of the two jumped up to second in the league in the same category with 504 on the year (5.14/set).
At the net, Jessica Riedl boasts a team-high 54 blocks after recording four against the Colonials last Tuesday with Libby Gentile just behind in second on the squad this season with 43 and Anna Nie with 40.
Saturday, the team will recognize four seniors and honor them as such with Riedl, Haley Brown, Madison Ross, and Avolyn Lepo all taking to the floor.
SCOUTING REPORT MILWAUKEE
At fourth place in the Horizon League standings, the Panthers snapped a three-game losing skid with a 3-0 sweep of Purdue Fort Wayne on November 1 heading into the weekend at 8-7 in conference play.
Milwaukee has two in the top six in the #HLVB ranks in hitting percentage behind Ari Miller and Bri Geurts at .343 and .272, respectively, while Miller sits ninth in kills with 3.17 per set plus a total of 241. Miller also currently finds herself fifth in points in the league at 3.84 per set in conjunction with the 62 blocks she's been a part of this season.
GREEN BAY
The Phoenix most recently took a 3-0 win over IUPUI in Wisconsin on November 1 after dropping two straight to Wright State and Northern Kentucky after ripping off five in a row. As previously mentioned, and noted below, OU's win over Green Bay on October 7 was one of the largest upsets in NCAA Division I Volleyball this season.
Tiffany Paalman has the best hitting percentage in the league at .372 with 199 total kills in 433 total attacks while Angie Gromos is third in the same category with a .323 percentage. However, Alexandra Zakutney has the third-most kills in the #HLVB with 360 (3.5/set). Likewise, Zakutney is second in points with 4.16 per set. Gromos and Paalman have combined for 202 blocks together with Gromos at a staggering 124 on the year.
