The Oakland Women's Volleyball Team ended the night in Ohio with a 4th set loss against Wright State bringing their season record to 9-14.
Patti Cesarini put Oakland on the board with a kill set up by Annabelle Tomei to kick off the first set. Continuing this momentum was more action from Madison Ross and Libby Gentile as they tested the Raiders on the other side of the net. Clarke Adams got in on the action as she was added to the first set mix to secure another energetic kill for the Golden Grizzlies to end the first set.
Cesarini continued to pitch in with five more kills in the second set and this energy continued to fuel the Oakland offense as we saw Clarke, Riedl, and Gentile pitch in with kills along with Anika Prisby proving to be offensive tools for the Golden Grizzlies.
Oakland kicked off the third set with energy with a dominating kill from Avolyn Lepo with help from Tomei. Followed by multiple kills from Gentile, along with action from Clarke the set was packed with just the right energy to keep the Raiders on their toes. Not long afterward, Prisby piggybacked off Gentile as she also recorded back-to-back kills for the Golden Grizzlies. Two last hits from Clarke and Riedl would top off the third set with their first win of the night pushing them to the fourth set.
Prisby then continued her momentum with the first kill of the fourth set followed by Cesarini. Gentile stayed consistent as she added another kill in the fourth set mix and alongside her, Clarke stayed locked in as she continued to attack with three more hits. However, the Golden Grizzlies fell short resulting in an 18-25 4th set loss which would end the night for Golden Grizzlies.
Defensively, the Golden Grizzlies stayed grounded tonight with a solid 17 blocks against the Raiders. Riedl, Tomei, Ross, Adams, Gentile, Prisby, Cesarini, and Lepo all recorded blocks to contribute to the defense this evening. Additionally, Haley Brown recorded a service ace for the Golden Grizzlies. And notably, Emily Wichmann led the team with an impressive 22 digs for Oakland defensively.
