World-renowned tech entrepreneur Josh Linkner and a panel of accomplished Lawrence Technological University alumni are the headliners at Innovate 2022, an event for innovators to be held at LTU’s Southfield campus Tuesday, April 26.
Doors open at 10:30 for the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lear Auditorium in LTU’s University Technology and Learning Center (building 3 at www.ltu.edu/map). Ample free parking is available in Lots A and G off LTU’s 10 Mile Road entrance.
The event will also feature resources for innovators, lunch, raffle prizes, and networking opportunities.

Innovate 2022 is presented by LTU’s College of Business and Information Technology and sponsored by Nicole Kennedy, M.D., a surgeon and life sciences entrepreneur who started her education with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering at Lawrence Tech.
There will be a keynote presentation on innovation from Linkner, a five-time technology entrepreneur, New York Times best-selling author, venture capital investor, and the recipient of the U.S. Presidential Champion of Change Award.
Also featured: a panel discussion with LTU alumni Tiffany Brown, Kennedy, and John Sammut.
Brown earned Bachelor of Science in architecture, Master of Architecture, and Master of Business Administration degrees from LTU. With nearly 20 years of experience in architecture, she is now executive director of the National Organization of Minority Architects, and founder of 400 Forward, an organization dedicated to promoting architecture and design careers among Black women. She is also an adjunct professor of architecture at LTU.
After graduating from LTU, Kennedy earned Master of Science degrees in electrical engineering and biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan, and graduated from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Most recently, she earned an MBA from U-M’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business. A vascular surgeon, she worked as section chief and medical informatics officer in Henry Ford Health System and taught as a clinical assistant professor at the WSU School of Medicine. She is also CEO of ArborHive, a consulting firm to medical technology startups.
Sammut is president and CEO of Grand Rapids-based Firstronic LLC, which provides electronics manufacturing and supply chain services for the automotive, medical, LED and other sectors. Earlier, he led entrepreneurial companies in marketing and electronics manufacturing, worked in private equity, and worked as a product planner and operations manager for Ford Motor Co. and General Motors. He started his education with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in electrical engineering and industrial management at LTU, and later studied in Europe, earning an MBA from the European Institute of International Business. He was Ernst & Young’s 2006 Entrepreneur of the Year for the Midwest region.
