Student leaders to be honored with Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Awards

Oakland University issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.

At its 30th annual Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Awards Celebration, Oakland University will recognize seven students for their efforts to break down stereotypes and promote racial and cultural understanding. 

This year’s event will take place from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022, at the Athletics Center O’rena on OU’s campus. Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor Anthony Anderson will keynote the event. 

The 2022 Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Award recipients are:

Established in 1993, Oakland University’s Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Awards pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for his achievements on behalf of civil rights. The awards honor students who have contributed to his legacy of interracial understanding and goodwill. In the past three decades, over 100 students have been awarded Keeper of the Dream Scholarships totaling more than $500,000.

The 30th annual Keeper of the Dream Awards Celebration is sponsored by PNC Bank, Rocket Companies, Oakland University Credit Union, Oakland University Alumni Association, Magna, Flagstar Bank, Autoliv, Willis Towers Watson, Lynne and Lia McIntosh Scholarship, Marshall Family Scholar Foundation, Meritor, Comcast/NBC Universal, Adient and Oakland University Black Alumni Chapter.
