City of Auburn Hills issued the following announcement on Nov. 17.

The City of Auburn Hills, a dynamic community committed to innovation and growth, announced yesterday that Kevin McDaniel has been re-elected by his peers on the Auburn Hills City Council to serve as Mayor for another two-year term. A fourth generation and life-long resident of Auburn Hills, Kevin McDaniel has served on the City Council since 2007. He was first elected as Mayor in 2013.  With his re-election at the November 15 City Council meeting, Kevin McDaniel begins his fifth term as Mayor of Auburn Hills.

During the meeting, Mayor McDaniel congratulated City Council Members Eugene Hawkins III, Bob Kittle, and Henry Knight on their re-election to office and welcomed new City Council Member Timothy Carrier.

“I am eager to continue serving the city I love as Mayor and am grateful for the support of my fellow Council Members. As a team, along with City Manager Tom Tanghe and staff, we look forward to growing our community and connecting with the many residents and businesses that thrive here,” said Mayor McDaniel.

Also at the November 15 meeting, the City Council elected Bob Kittle as Mayor Pro-Tem. The Mayor Pro-Tem performs the duties of the office of the Mayor when he is unavailable. A long-time Auburn Hills resident, Mr. Kittle was first appointed to the City Council in 2002 to fill a vacancy. He has been re-elected by the citizens ever since. He previously served in the role of Mayor Pro-Tem from 2013 to 2015. This November, Mr. Kittle succeeds Mayor Pro-Tem John Burmeister, who served in the role since 2017 and announced his retirement at the November 1 City Council Meeting.

“It is an honor to return to the role of Mayor Pro-Tem and to advocate for our city’s development, public safety, and community engagement,” added Kittle.

Mayor McDaniel currently serves on the Retiree Health Care Board, the Pension Board, and Downtown Development Authority Board. As Mayor Pro-Tem, Mr. Kittle serves with Mayor McDaniel on the Retiree Health Care and Pension Boards.
