Oakland County issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.
Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter released the following statement in response to Oakland County, Michigan’s six percent population growth in the 2020 Census:
“It’s heartening to see strong and continuing growth in Oakland County with the Census numbers showing 72,033 more people living here than in 2010. Since 1900, Oakland County’s population has grown every 10 years and our economic strength, status as a welcoming county, and exceptional quality of life contribute to that expansion. While we’ve seen substantial increases in some Oakland County communities like Novi, Wixom, Lyon Township, Troy, Rochester Hills, and Southfield, a smaller but notable three percent jump in Pontiac’s population, and smaller drops in others, we are still evaluating the data by community and Census tract to determine how the county’s population and demographics have shifted in the last decade.”
