Oakland Schools issued the following announcement on Feb. 11.
Great Start Collaborative Oakland County is kicking off its annual Free Book February promotion to encourage families to participate in developmental screenings for their children.
Oakland County residents with a child between ages 0-5 years old can fill out a Brookes Ages and Stages Questionnaire and Great Start Collaborative will mail back the results with a free children’s book. This promotion will last throughout the month of February and is a great way to inspire the love of reading in children.
The Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) is a quick, 10-minute screening tool that looks at five areas of child development: communication, fine motor, gross motor, problem solving and personal social. This is a great way to see if a child is developmentally on track.
Oakland County is the largest provider in developmental screenings for Help Me Grow in the United States.
