Michigan state Rep. Mike Mueller (R-Linden) announced his appointment as vice-chair of the state House Agricultural Committee.
On Jan. 9, he wrote a post made to his Facebook page.
“I grew up living and breathing the agricultural industry,” Mueller wrote.

He also cited his experience in agritourism as important for his new role on the committee. He provided a link to an announcement made by the Michigan House Republicans.
According to the announcement, Mueller is a retired sheriff’s deputy. He oversees his family’s farm, which includes an orchard, cider mill and wedding event site. The business has been operating since 1941.
“The Agricultural Committee is responsible for deliberating on all policy related to the agricultural industry in Michigan,” the announcement said.
Besides serving on the committee, Mueller also is vice-chair for the House Military, Veterans and Homeland Security Committee. He additionally serves on both the Energy Committee and Health Policy Committee.
“I look forward to harnessing my experience in both areas to make Michigan’s agricultural industry even better,” Mueller said.
