OAKLAND COUNTY: Adopts First Comprehensive Non-discrimination Policy

Nondiscrimination

Oakland County issued the following announcement on Nov. 27.

Oakland County Executive David Coulter, Chairman Dave Woodward, and members of the Board of Commissioners will host a bill signing ceremony adopting Oakland County’s first comprehensive non-discrimination policy. Miscellaneous Resolution 19250, approved by the Board of Commissioners last week, expands county policies to include protections for gender identity and expression, veteran status, familial status, and marital status in relation to employment, contracting, and the delivery of services.

The bill signing will align Oakland County with State of Michigan policies and hundreds of other state, county, and local governments that have adopted similar policies, embracing the best practices that have already been implemented in much of the corporate world.
