Oakland County nonprofit receives grant for youth mental wellness camp

State Representative Mike Harris, R-Waterford, acknowledged a grant aimed at enhancing youth mental health services in Oakland County. The Michigan Association of Health Plans has awarded a $2,500 Health Equity Grant to On A Dragonfly’s Wings, a nonprofit based in Waterford dedicated to mental health support and suicide prevention by addressing the stigma around mental health issues.

The grant will fund a week-long mental wellness camp designed for young people from fourth to ninth grade in Oakland County. Kris Miller, founder and executive director of On A Dragonfly’s Wings; Nikki Tippett, board president; Scott Kempa, legislative coordinator for the Michigan Association of Health Plans; and Shelly Schloss, board member of On A Dragonfly’s Wings joined Rep. Harris in celebrating the award.
